Cayo Sabinal is part of the Sabana-Camaguey Archipelago (Cayo Sabinal, Cayo Guajaba, and Cayo Romano) located in the province of Camaguey. It is 634 km (420 mi) away from Havana and 109 km (70 mi) from the provincial capital. Its sands are bathed by the North Atlantic Ocean.
Among its beaches we find some like Playa Bonita, Playa Brava, and Playa Los Pinos. The key is joined to the main island by means of roads over the sea, which also communicate the key with others of the archipelago including the world famous Jardines del Rey (Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo).
Its mostly plain land is also covered by marshlands and lagoons that are linked among them and with the sea by means of large estuaries.
